Achieving Vitality Goals Is Objective of 'Leading Beyond the Walls' Workshop
May 25, 2012
By Dave Bunje
We are reporting service, giving, and attendance patterns each week through Vital Signs, and have submitted our goals for growth over the next four years through Vital Congregations: Now how do we engage members of our churches to help achieve these goals?
That is the objective of the Leading Beyond the Walls workshop being offered at the First United Methodist Church in Loomis, June 8 and 9. Hosted by the Great Northern District and (Foothills) "Circuit on the Rise," this workshop will be led by Jason Gant, the director of Student Ministries at Church of the Resurrection (including its "Vibe" worship service) – and Dan Entwistle, managing executive director of the Leawood, Kansas, church, who since 1992 has helped create something where little existed before.
This workshop is designed to detail hands-on practices and to build enthusiasm for our work of growing in vitality. Churches are encouraged to send a team to attend – preferably including the pastor and at least two lay people.
For those traveling a distance, some Friday night accommodations with Saturday breakfast will be available in circuit members' homes. However, you MUST register on or before June 1.
Leading Beyond the Walls will take place Friday-Saturday, June 8-9, 2012 (6:30-9 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday). $35 per person registration fee includes Saturday lunch and snacks.
Registration is on line at http://www.cnumc.org/register. For clergy, approval is pending for one CEU in Disciple Making or Professional Competency.
