Cornerstone UMC Schedules April 29 Celebration of Ministry in Advance of Closure
April 19, 2012
By Pastor Joan Pell
After a period of discernment, with unanimity and much sadness, the members of Cornerstone Community UMC in Rocklin have signed the deed for their property over to the Conference Board of Missions, and will be petitioning the Annual Conference for discontinuance in June.
The congregation, together with Great Northern "On the Rise" Circuit, invites all who have had a relationship with the congregation in any capacity – and especially any former members – to join with us in worship on Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. We will mark our 23 years in Rocklin, of faithfully making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, with thanksgiving and a celebration of our ministry and our legacy, as together we claim a new future with hope. The service will conclude with the deconsecrating of the building.
We would love it if former members who cannot attend, would send us a card describing the fruit of our ministry – in other words, where are you now on your faith journey? Please tell us, too, about an occasion you remember when God touched you through Cornerstone's ministry, and describe a fond memory or funny story of life at Cornerstone.
Please pass along this information to all who may be interested. You are welcome to post the flyer and/or to include the insert (below) in your church bulletin.
