Clergy Invited to 'Create Land of Opportunity in California' PICO Event

April 05, 2012

People Improving Communities through Organizing (PICO) California, a faith-based community-organizing group made up of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim congregations, is looking to get more congregations involved in changing our communities for the better.

A number of congregations in the California-Nevada Annual Conference – including Alum Rock, Cambrian Park, and La Trinidad in the South Bay – already are a part of the PICO network.
Join with hundreds of clergy from throughout California to chart a new direction for your family, your community, and your state. Sign up to attend PICO's Thursday, April 26 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) event in Sacramento, "To Create a Land of Opportunity in California."
The day will include:
  • An analysis of what's at stake for California in 2012, including a $9 billion revenue initiative designed to protect many of the programs serving our families and communities.
  • Tools to build a faith-based voice that shapes the future of our state.
  • Resources for preaching and teaching from a variety of religious and faith traditions.
To "be a part of this critical effort to build our power, to strengthen our prophetic voice, and to create a Land of Opportunity in California," register here.
