Second Course by Cal-Nev's Sung-Ho Lee Is Added to Online Learning Center

April 05, 2012

Another course by the Rev. Sung-Ho Lee, pastor of Concord (California) United Methodist Church, is being offered through United Methodist Communications' (UMCom) Online Learning Center website.

"How to Build a Community of Love: Book of Ruth Bible Study" has just been added to the site. Two weeks ago, UMCom began to offer Lee's course "Disciple Making Process."
In the "How to Build a Community of Love" course, students will read the Book of Ruth in the Old Testament, and examine whether our values, viewpoints, and vision are biblical. Then students will search out the purpose for our lives, and explore how to plan and develop partnerships to achieve that purpose. "The final goal is to build a community of love through simple serving and sharing life," the author says.
One of the contributors to the Catch Fire in 50 Days study guide, Rev. Lee says his focus is on studying the Bible "and sharing what I learn with as many people as possible." He says he turned to writing online studies when he realized that he could reach many more people that way, than through the traditional classroom approach.
He developed "How to Build a Community of Love" and "Disciple Making Process" after taking the Moodle 100 and 101 courses through the Online Learning Center.
To register for the Book of Ruth course, go to Click on the "California-Nevada Annual Conference" link, the first link under "Other Course Categories," located at the bottom center of the Online Learning Center home page. Rev. Lee's "How to Build a Community of Love: Book of Ruth Bible Study" is the first one listed on the California-Nevada page. His "Disciple Making Process" course is the third one listed – just below the Rev. Tom Butler's "Let Her Keep It," a 10-week study of three stories from the Gospel According to John.
