New Vision Pavilion Construction at Shasta Camp is Complete
November 10, 2011

Members and friends of First United Methodist Church in Redding and Shasta Camp supporters gathered for a Shasta Camp benefit barbecue dinner and concert at the church on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011.
The dinner served as prelude to a concert in which the church highlighted its music ministry. Included were vocal/guitar ensembles, solo vocals, and the church's adult, children's and bell choirs. A Christian "rapper" from Paradise added a different dimension to the program.
As publicity chair for the Camp Management Committee, I showed a video of the camp and told those present about a grant of $50,000 to help pay construction costs of the New Vision Pavilion. The new two-story building will provide an indoor venue for programs, dining, fellowship, and worship for about 100 participants, with storage on the ground floor.
Also part of the evening's fundraiser was the sale of Shasta Camp T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. Camp brochures, supporter letters, bumper stickers, and pens were made available to all.
Another Shasta Camp benefit concert on the North Coast was held at the same time. Together, the two concerts raised more than $4,000!
The building has had its final inspection and is ready for next summer's camps. However, donations still will be joyfully accepted. Send your check to Shasta Camp, Bill Youngs, Treasurer, 3376 Heritagetown Drive, Redding, CA 96002.
