Register Today for Cal-Nev UMW Annual Celebration, 'Joy for the Journey'
October 12, 2011
By Connie Hunter
Joy for the Journey is the theme for the California-Nevada Annual Conference United Methodist Women's annual celebration, taking place this year at First UMC of Modesto on Saturday, Oct. 22.
We are honored to have as guest speaker Marva Usher-Kerr, Executive Secretary for Membership for the Women's Division, General Board of Global Ministries. Marva has served UMW on GBGM for the past 27 years, and is a certified evangelist of The United Methodist Church.
This year's annual celebration promises excitement, as the Conference United Methodist Women fulfill the goal of transitioning from seven districts (Bay View, Delta, Fresno, Golden Gate, Nevada-Sierra, San Jose, and Shasta) to four districts (Bridges, Central Valley, El Camino Real, and Great Northern). The program will include a passing of banners ceremony – illustrating the transformation of districts – as well as the election and installation of the Conference and district officers.
Finding Joy for the Journey in this life ensures that seeing God at work in my struggles means I do not fear. Striving together with each other and the Spirit means I'm not alone. Standing firm with faith means I suffer with Christ.
Join us on Saturday, Oct. 22, as we prepare for the future and celebrate and give thanks for our past! A brochure with more information and a registration form is available at the United Methodist Women's website, www.cnumw.org. [NOTE: Not the Conference website!]
Just look for Joy for the Journey and click on the registration link. Do it now: The deadline is Oct. 13!
