Cal-Nev's Young People: Abundantly Blessed This Summer!

Fall is in the air and our sights are on the new ministry year with our young people. But I am going into the new season slowly, as I am still enjoying and thanking God for the many blessings that summer brought to our young people.
Our summer camp programs served almost 300 young people at our beautiful sites, where through small groups, worship, recreation, arts and crafts, fellowship, and (of course!) s’mores – our young people were allowed to grow in their faith, create lifelong friendships, and be in God's creation away from the distractions of the world.
At Youth 2011, more than 5,000 youth were a part of an amazing event put on by the General Board of Discipleship's (GBOD) department of Young People's Ministry (YPM). Awesome bands, speakers, small groups, workshops, fun, and fellowship made it an experience in disciple-building like no other, with a call for each of our youth to "Be More Than" in their faith walk.
I want to thank my awesome staff for their support at each event. They put in endless hours of preparation and hard work dedicated to the mission of our ministry programs. I also want to thank the hundreds of volunteers who answered the call, and truly represented our Conference's commitment to our young people. Truly, we couldn't have done it without you!
So on to the fall. Blessings to all as we look for ways to continue to connect our youth to their faith and their church. As I always say, our young people are NOT the church of the future, they are the church of the NOW. Serve them well.
Look in the Instant Connection and on the Conference website for upcoming opportunities to connect with the Conference through opportunities of training, retreats, and fellowship.
