No Gathering of the Orders This Year; Circuit Leaders to Meet in November

October 06, 2011

By tradition, and with the encouragement of the Discipline, in recent years Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr. has invited all Orders to gather with him in the fall for a time of "retreat, learning, and strengthening relationships." This year, however, there will not be a Gathering of the Orders. In its place: a retreat for circuit leaders only, Nov. 7-9, at Mt. Hermon Retreat Center.

The purpose of the Circuit Leaders' Retreat is to create an opportunity for circuit leaders to catch fire for God's mission in the mission field. A primary goal is to create an understanding of how four key plans are aligned with each other, and serve to empower disciple-making for the transformation of the world.
Those four plans are:
  1. The Conference-Wide Strategy for Revival, Renewal, and Reach (i.e. the Strategic Plan)
  2. The Bishops' Call to Action
  3. Our Conference Covenant with Path 1
  4. The proposed Mission Alignment Structure change.
Circuit leaders are invited to register now through Oct. 15 at Registration is free (your Apportionment dollars at work!).
The retreat will begin with onsite registration at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, followed by the first communal meal at 6 p.m. The event will end after lunch is provided at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
