Reminder: Website and Social Media Training

September 29, 2011

If you've already registered for Website and Social Media Training, being offered at four locations in California-Nevada, Oct. 14 and 15, watch your email Inbox. A survey to help trainers tailor the curriculum to the needs of participants will be emailed to registrants next week.

Not registered, but feeling left behind? Not sure where to begin: maybe Twitter, maybe Facebook – or maybe a new website? Wondering what's re-tweeting and what's a hashtag? And seriously, what does "liking" have to do with anything?
Feeling lost in the cold sea of techno-speak?
Whether you are just beginning to think about using websites and social media such as Facebook and Twitter, or are wondering how to manage and expand what you already have – this training is designed with you in mind.
Local church communicators are encouraged to attend, and pastors, lay leaders, and other interested persons are welcome!
United Methodist Communications Training Manager Heather Rippetoe will join Paul Keogan of Back Office Thinking, a Pennsylvania-based consultants' group focusing on communications and business processes, in providing hands-on training to help churches achieve a vibrant web ministry.
Bring a laptop if you have access to one (recommended but not required). Participants will be able to practice using a variety of free tools and will review 10 best practices to help plan the next steps in growing a ministry.
Participants will also:
  • revisit the foundation for web ministry, grounded in biblical and theological understandings;
  • explore how web ministry supports communication and ministry plans in their church;
  • get examples from churches around the connection; and
  • explore user-centered and seeker-friendly approaches.
