Sacramento Location Set for October Website and Social Media Training

The Sacramento location has been finalized, for website and social media training in October.

The second of four trainings will be hosted at the United Methodist Center in West Sacramento, the main office building for the California-Nevada Annual Conference.
Local church communicators – along with pastors, lay leaders, and other interested persons – are encouraged to register today, selecting the location most convenient for them:

Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.-noon, FUMC Modesto, 850 Sixteenth Street, Modesto, CA 95354
Saturday, Oct. 15, 2-5 p.m., FUMC Palo Alto, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301
United Methodist Communications Training Manager Heather Rippetoe and Paul Keogan of Back Office Thinking, a Pennsylvania-based consultants' group focusing on communications and business processes, will conduct the workshops, with support from the Conference Communications Office.
Participants can expect to:
  • revisit the foundation for web ministry, grounded in biblical and theological understandings
  • explore how web ministry supports communication and ministry plans in their church
  • get examples from churches around the connection
  • explore user-centered and seeker-friendly approaches
  • practice* using a variety of free tools to engage their church's audiences
  • review 10 best practices to help plan the next steps in growing your web ministry
However, in order to tailor their curriculum to the needs of those who will be attending, the trainers are asking registrants to complete a short survey being emailed to them.
(*This will be hands-on training, so take a laptop with you if you have access to one.)
