Reminder: Caregiver Support Forum is Coming up

September 01, 2011

The Older Adult Ministry Council's Moving Forward: Caregiver Support Forum is coming up soon. On Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the United Methodist Center in West Sacramento will be the setting for workshops and discussions addressing needs and concerns of older adults, their care providers, and congregational members who are involved with seniors. The goal for the event is to provide practical information and strategies for keeping older adults active and included in congregational and communal life. We are all caregivers and we all benefit from our elders' involvement and valuable wisdom.

Issues covered in the workshops will include:
  • Congregational Friendly Visiting Education (including in-home Communion service and Worship on Wheels);
  • Loss and Bereavement Guidance (including affordable housing options for seniors);
  • Financial Abuse and Identity Theft Prevention; and
  • Technology Options for Seniors.
Pastors, please encourage members of your congregation to attend this event. The information and strategies they will learn on September 21 will benefit and energize everyone and will help bring generations together in a supportive and caring way.

The deadline for registration is Monday, September 12. Contact Jackie Finley (Older Adult Ministry Council member) at 916.769.2121 or jackie@theunion.net to sign up, or for more information.
