Youth 2011, the national gathering of United Methodist youth that only happens every four years, is in full swing at the Sacramento Convention Center. Some 1300 youth from all over the country have been engaged in mind-blowing worship, Bible studies, workshops, mission opportunities, and other faith-growing experiences since their arrival on Wednesday. The event ends Saturday night.
Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr., resident bishop in the California-Nevada Annual Conference, showed his commitment to youth and to the event by taking time off from his renewal leave to deliver a welcome and prayer at opening worship Wednesday evening. The Rev. Motoe Yamada, pastor of Japanese United Methodist Church in Sacramento, will be the keynote speaker at this evening's worship.
