Apply Now for Suk-Chong Yu Scholarships

The Suk-Chong Yu Religious Studies Scholarship is open for applications until August 15, 2011.

The scholarship was created to honor the leadership of the Rev. Suk-Chong Yu, who served as Nevada-Sierra District Superintendent from 1999 until his retirement in June, 2006. Established with funds contributed in his honor, the Suk-Chong Yu Educational Scholarship is offered to applicants, both lay members and clergy members, who wish to pursue religious education.
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded this year and may be applied in the following categories:
1.    A limited scope – such as sabbaticals or a one-time instruction for training leaders, i.e., Stephen Ministries
2.    Seminary students – undergraduate or graduate studies
3.    Religious music studies
4.    Age-related ministry studies – children, youth, adults, seniors
5.    Training in mission of Social Justice
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school or have an equivalent degree. If applying for college, applicant must have a 3.0 GPA (or above), out of 4.0 – and for graduate school, applicant must have 3.0 GPA or above in undergraduate work.  
Scholarship applications must be received by August 15, 2011 in the District Office.
Applicants must provide a copy of their school transcript and three letters of recommendation, along with their completed Scholarship application, Part I, II and III,to: Blanche Farnam, P.O. Box 1174, Portola, CA 96122.
