UMW Takes to the Road to Serve

The UMW (United Methodist Women) of the California-Nevada Annual Conference is taking its focus on serving others literally to the road!
If you've wanted to have a short term mission experience, this one will suit beginners as well as seasoned volunteers. Sixteen team volunteers (to be formed through the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, or UMVIM, office) will travel to Salt Lake City September 2-10 to spend five days in a mission setting. At "UMCOR West," the United Methodist Committee on Relief depot in Salt Lake City, we'll assemble emergency relief kits for shipment around the world and visit/work with other city projects.
United Methodist Women have always been a vital part of the mission connection. The steps we are taking to streamline the organization will open the door for more women to participate.
We invite you to make a difference! Reservations are due June 15. Cost is $425.
For me, UMW has been a great source of Christian mentoring. Hands-on mission projects with others, especially through UMVIM, have helped me refine where my heart is... When I cherish aloneness, I am encouraged to form friendships and visit the lonely. When I appreciate the mundane, I am stretched with new views. When I want to store up treasures (whether time, money, or power), I am led to other paths.
