Bishop Calls on Cal-Nev UMs to 'Join the Movement of God's Mission' at Easter

April 18, 2011

In his latest article, published April 18, 2011, Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr. calls on United Methodists in the California-Nevada Annual Conference to Catch Fire in 50 Days and Join the Movement of God's Mission in the World.

Catch Fire in 50 Days is an Easter-to-Pentecost Bible study prepared by the Rev. Blake Busick and other members of the Conference's task force on congregational vitality. Bishop Brown asks that everyone participate in this "season of preparation for the work we will do at Annual Conference Session," but leaves it up to individuals and churches as to the form participation will take: Catch Fire in 50 Days has been designed for use by individuals, small groups, and entire congregations.
"Let us plunge headlong into a journey of discovery of God's vision for us," the bishop writes.
"We are an Easter people. We can be a part of a movement of people rethinking church, and what it means to be a follower of Christ. We are capable of Catching Fire!"
