CA-NV UM Foundation Announces New Educational Program for Congregations

March 31, 2011

The California-Nevada Annual Conference United Methodist Foundation is offering a new program for local churches, to encourage estate planning and planned giving. The seminar is called "Provide and Protect."

"The Provide part shows you how to make good decisions to help your family. With a good plan you can avoid an accidental disinheritance and leave your family the gift of peace," said Susan Peters, Executive Director. "The Protect part explains how you or a family member can make important medical decisions. If you are very ill or have a major medical problem, there are ways to protect you and your property. And you can make a gift to your local church in the process!"
The seminar is great for young families who need to select a guardian, for Baby Boomers to update their estate plan, and for seniors who need to be certain their medical forms are in order, according to Peters. The Foundation suggests that these seminars be held following worship on Sunday for maximum attendance. All attendees receive a helpful Wills Planning Guide.
