March 03, 2011
Is a Drew University DMin in your future?
Dr. Jeffrey Kuan, the new Dean of Drew Theological School and a member of the California-Nevada Annual Conference, will be back "home" for a meeting at Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco, next Thursday (March 10), 9-10 a.m. Along with Drew's Doctor of Ministry Program Director Dr. Carl E. Savage, Kuan will present an opportunity for area ministers to join a newly forming cohort of the Drew Doctor of Ministry degree program.
The Rev. Karen Oliveto will be the host pastor for this group, as well as serving as a faculty member for the cohort.
Drew's San Francisco Area Doctor of Ministry Regional Concentration, "Congregational Growth and Community Development Concentration: Theology and Practice of Shalom," has been carefully designed to assist pastors in renewing the spirit of God in communities and congregations through a theologically-informed praxis for congregational growth and community development with integrity. The focus will be on: strengthening relationships among neighbors; improving community health care and coordination of services; developing the prosperity and economies of communities; fostering a grounded theology in biblical and historical models of church growth; gaining skills in using a prophetic approach to leadership; conducting an in-depth analysis of the community and congregation;, and creating a plan for growth and asset-based community development with the leadership of congregations.
