Sacramento's Japanese UMC to Host 'Friendly Visitor' Training This Saturday

January 31, 2011

Sacramento's Japanese UMC will offer "Friendly Visitor" Training, taught by Judith Pruess-Mellow, Ph.D., M.Div. and Jackie Finley, M.A., of Gold Country Seniors Alive, this Saturday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Pruess-Mellow and Finley will train participants in a system for including laypersons in parish visitation ministries. This "Friendly Visitor" Training is for anyone interested in visiting:
  • homebound persons and persons living in assisted care/skilled nursing facilities;
  • hospitalized persons or persons recovering from serious illness or surgery;
  • persons new to church who have attended services.
The church received a grant from the Beulah Fund to provide this training – so there is no cost to attend. However, attendees should pack a sack lunch, and reservations are absolutely necessary, to ensure that the right number of training booklets is on hand so that each participant can receive one.
Call the church at 916.421.1017 to reserve your spot.
