MLK Birthday Observance Launches Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: Special Services Planned

The observance of the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday (Jan. 17) is the launching point for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity celebrated by The United Methodist Church.

Please take note of two special services which are planned.
 
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemakers at San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church invites you to attend an Interfaith Peace Convocation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 17) in the church's Wesley Center. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
 
The Peacemakers say, "We hope you will come to join us in honoring peacemakers on earth! We look forward to seeing you there."

And on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m., you're invited to attend A Celebration of Christian Unity at St. John's United Methodist Church in Rohnert Park.
 
The service is being planned jointly by local Lutheran, Episcopal, and United Methodist churches to recognize the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, January 18-25. The California-Nevada Annual Conference Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns invites you to take part in this service of hymn singing, lectio divina, and fellowship.
 
An offering will be taken in support of the International Center of Bethlehem, at the Evangelic Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem.
