DCM's Assistant, Dina Stenwick, Retires
December 09, 2010
A great partner in ministry
Dina Stenwick is retiring at the end of this year after seven years as Administrative Assistant for the Rev. Linda Caldwell, Director of Connectional Ministry, and for the Conference Board of Missions.
"She has been a great partner in ministry," Caldwell says. "Dina has kept me mindful of tasks that needed attention and has handled others with great skill, with little or no direction from me. She has been a valuable link to Conference administration for a number of committee chairs and Conference programs.
"Dina has brought great organizational and administrative skill to her work. But what has been most important to me is that she also has a spiritual depth which has fueled her passion for the work we share."
Stenwick has lived in and traveled to many places outside of the United States, and Caldwell notes that she has been grateful for this life experience. "Our Conference is a place where the world lives, and Dina has brought her world experience to her work in a way that fosters hospitality to all. It also has been wonderful to have someone who writes and speaks Spanish working at the United Methodist Center."
Stenwick retires during a time of great transition in the life of the California-Nevada Annual Conference. Because of the work which is underway to assess the effectiveness of our Conference structure and staffing as it relates to our mission, it would be difficult to seek out and hire a new person for our Administrative Staff at this time. Therefore we will postpone hireling a new Administrative Assistant until sometime in 2011.
In the meantime, the important tasks Dina has cared for are being transferred to other staff at the United Methodist Center, and beginning January 1 Becky Sheldon, the Conference Center's Receptionist/Hospitality Coordinator, will answer the Office of Connectional Ministry phone when Rev. Caldwell is away from her desk.
