Second Cycle of Home-Based CLayM Course Begins New Year's Day

December 02, 2010

Registration is open for the second cycle of CLayM@Home, the DVD-based Conference Lay Minister training.

The second cycle will begin January 1 and end May 22, and will include two mandatory retreats, February 12-13 and May 21-22.

CLayMAway, the traditional Conference Lay Minister training, takes place in a group setting, with live lectures. It is held at the United Methodist Center in West Sacramento.

(The second CLayMAway flight of the 2010-2011 year will be January 17-21. It is a continuation from November and no new entries will be accepted, except by special request from a district superintendent.)

The new home-based program, CLayM@Home, presents an attractive alternative by allowing participants to study largely at home by DVD, making the training easier to accomplish for those with fulltime jobs or other constraints.

Both programs – CLayMAway and the new CLayM@Home – can result in eligibility for "Certified Lay Minister" assignment, for graduates who believe they are so called. The same application will be used for both programs.
