Sierra Service Project (SSP) still has space available for two of the three faith-rich service weekends it's offering in Sacramento at the beginning of the new year. Like SSP's summer projects, these weekends will combine a challenging, hands-on service project with fun fellowship with youth from other youth groups, and a strong focus on understanding how we can all live out our faith in the world around us.
Each weekend will start on Friday afternoon and end on Sunday afternoon. Work projects will involve many of the usual SSP jobs: carpentry, replacing flooring, wall replacement, and painting. Initially, SSP is partnering with two different local organizations to provide much-needed hands-on service work.
All sessions will take place at Oak Park United Methodist Church, located in Sacramento's historically African-American community of Oak Park.
There are still openings in the January 7-9 and February 25-27 sessions. The cost per person is only $75, which covers food, lodging, a great custom T-shirt, and – of course – project planning and supervision.
