Filipino American Ministries (FAM) of the California-Nevada Annual Conference will celebrate its 2010 "PASASALAMAT" (translated "Thanksgiving") on Saturday, November 20 at Central United Methodist Church in Stockton.
The church is located at 3700 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204. (Visit the Central UMC webpage and use the handy Google Maps feature to plot your route.)
The festivities will begin at 9 a.m.
The theme this year is "Come to the Table of Hope" (Tayo Na Sa Hapag Ng Pag-asa). Bishop Daniel Arichea, Jr. of the Philippines will be guest speaker.
Pasasalamat is an annual gathering and time of festivity for Filipino-American United Methodists in the Cal-Nevada Conference.
"The day-long fete commences with a worship service as we commune with our Creator in our own special way," says incoming FAM president Ed Lubiano. "In spite of a sumptuous lunch, food becomes secondary as friends visit, bonds are renewed, and new ones are forged. However," he adds, "There is nothing that brings more excitement than the Cultural Production, as it allows most of us to reconnect with our inner roots. In the end, Pasasalamat resonates with who we are and what we have become as disciples of Christ.
"This is our special way to give praise and thanks to our Creator God for all His blessings and graces given to us. In the end, Pasasalamat resonates with who we are and what we have become as disciples of Christ."
In addition to the worship and celebration, officers for 2011-2012 will be installed. As Wilma Antonio cedes the presidency to Lubiano, Edna Andres will be sworn in as vice president, Saniata Melchor as secretary, and Joe Valdez as treasurer.
