Churches: Sign up Your Communicator by October 12 for Workshops in San Francisco

October 12 at end of day (midnight) is the deadline for local church communicators to register for workshops at the United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC) annual meeting, October 20 and 21 at Hotel Whitcomb in San Francisco.

This year the United Methodist Information Technology Association (UMITA) is meeting concurrently with UMAC and opening its workshops to UMAC attendees, as well.
It's a great opportunity for local church communicators to be resourced in topics such as Cyberspace and Sacredspace (led by Rev. Eric Law of Kaleidoscope Institute); Copyright Essentials; Safe Sanctuary: What's Changing with New Emerging Media; Effective PowerPoint Presentations; and Web Optimization.
In addition to workshops, the Wednesday schedule includes a "Rethink Church" lunch, Bible study with Eric Law, and the opportunity to meet with Western Jurisdiction Annual Conference communicators.
The Thursday schedule includes lunch with Bishop Thomas Bickerton and the General Secretary of UM Communications, the Rev. Larry Hollon, sandwiched between a "How to Talk IT" roundtable and an interactive "Shop Talk" session with UM Communications and United Methodist News Service (UMNS).
UMAC is making a special day rate of $120 available to Cal-Nev church communicators only. This rate includes UMAC membership (a $75 value), breakfast and lunch for those attending on Wednesday, and lunch for those attending on Thursday.
