Bread for the World President Appears on PBS on Friday, July 16

July 15, 2010

Rev. David Beckmann, president of Bread for the World, a faith-based organization which lobbies Congress to increase foreign aid and make it more efficient, will appear on PBS on Friday, July 16 on the public affairs show, "Need to Know."

Jon Meacham, program host and editor of Newsweek, interviewed Beckmann about how our domestic farm policy may be harming malnourished children in the developing world. He appears in the second segment of the show.
Since "Need to Know" airs at various times throughout the country, please check the schedule of your local PBS station.
Bread for the World hopes the interview will move viewers to write their members of Congress, urging them to act to fully fund the additional investments for the Child Nutrition Act, which authorizes such programs as school lunches and breakfasts, summer feeding programs, and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program – all of which are critical to ending childhood hunger, the organization states.
Nearly one in four children in this country suffers from hunger.
