Traveling to Sacramento for Annual Conference Session? Come a bit early and attend a "Cultural Competency as a Leadership Skill" workshop, Tuesday, June 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
The church is located at 2100 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.
Facilitated by Dr. Shan McSpadden of Pacific School of Religion and the Conference Commission on Religion and Race, the June 15 workshop will meet the BOOM requirement for cultural competency and will give .75 CEUs.
Presentations, small group discussions, experiential activities and practical tools will focus upon:
· gaining specific skills for cross-cultural interaction, and
· being able to apply concepts and skills to ministry.
Clergy also will have the opportunity to develop an individual learning/activity plan aimed at increasing cultural competence for effective ministry. They will learn from each other the challenges and possibilities which are shaped by racial and cultural identity in the U.S. context.
Workshop cost of $75 covers registration, materials, room rental, and lunch (provided by the church).
