Berger and Jones Takes on Hearing Aid Collection Project for ACS Again This Year

May 20, 2010

For the third year, Berger and Jones Insurance, program administrator for the California-Nevada Annual Conference-sponsored insurance program, will collect used hearing aids at Annual Conference Session in June. These then will be forwarded to a firm in New Jersey which refurbishes them and provides hearing aids to children in South and Central America.

Annual Conference Session takes place June 16-19 at the Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
The hearing aids should be dropped in a bin labeled "Hearing Aids," which will be located inside the entrance to Halls A/B of the convention center – or at the UNIT Insurance Committee display table.
Hearing aid collections will conclude on Friday afternoon.
Collections of glasses, phones at ACS
Used eyeglasses and cell phones will be collected at ACS as well. Look for separate bins labeled "Glasses" and "Phones," which also will be positioned inside the entrance to the main meeting hall.
Individuals and churches, please separate glasses and cell phone donations into separate bags – having removed all individual bags, boxes, glasses and cell phone cases, all accessories, including cables, batteries, chargers, AC adaptors, instructions for use, etc.
This will greatly facilitate the process of getting your donations to the people who need them!
Send relief kits to ACS
The United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Committee is asking all churches in the California-Nevada Annual Conference to send disaster relief kits for Haiti to ACS. Although Health Kits are still needed, authorities are emphasizing the current need for Layette Kits and Birthing Kits.
These may be dropped off at the UMVIM table in the main hall. (You may take them to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 2391 St. Mark's Way, Sacramento, CA 95864, if you are unable to drop them off at the Convention Center.)
SSP food collection
Sierra Service Project will collect donations of bulk peanut butter, jelly/jam, and powdered drink mix – for the more than 2,000 middle school and high school youth (and their adult leaders) who will be in mission and service throughout the Western United States this summer.
Drop off your donations at the SSP display table in the main hall at ACS before lunchtime on Friday.
