This year, Annual Conference Session is designed to be a destination for churches' full leadership teams – not just their clergy and lay members.
Thursday morning workshops with Bishop Robert Schnase (author of Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations and the brand new Five Practices of Fruitful Living) and Dr. Marcia McFee (worship designer and leader) were created with other congregation members, as well as ecumenical friends and members of the community, in mind. Since they're being held during Sections, when voting members will be focusing on legislation, the workshops are an opportunity to receive special training from the conference's keynote speaker and worship designer, for those who ordinarily might not be at ACS.
Thursday also is the day when Bishop Schnase will lead two plenary sessions – so leadership teams can travel to Sacramento and get a full day of teaching and inspiration from these two "stars" of The United Methodist Church.
Workshops will be from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. (participants will have an opportunity to take one workshop with each presenter during that time), to be followed by an afternoon plenary session at 1:30 which is open to the public, and an evening plenary session, beginning at 8 o’clock, which also is open to the public.
There is no charge to attend the plenary sessions. Workshop registration fee is $15 per person, which covers two workshops – one with each presenter.
Take advantage of this great opportunity to develop the principled Christian leaders in your congregation and increase your church's effectiveness! Sign up the people responsible for the key ministries at your church (and those you envision stepping into leadership roles) to take part in the Thursday (June 17) schedule at ACS!
Register for workshops by June 1 here (or look under "Registrations" on the main navigation bar of the Home Page of the Conference website at cnumc.org).
