Send Disaster Relief Kits for Haiti to Annual Conference Session

May 07, 2010

The United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Committee is asking all churches in the California-Nevada Annual Conference to send disaster relief kits for Haiti to Annual Conference Session, June 16–19.

Kits may be dropped off at the UMVIM table at the Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. UMVIM will arrange shipping to the UMCOR West Supply Depot in Salt Lake City for distribution to Haiti.
Although Health Kits are still needed, authorities are emphasizing the current need for Layette Kits and Birthing Kits.

If you are unable to drop off kits at the Convention Center, you may take them to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 2391 St. Mark's Way, Sacramento, CA 95864.
For more information contact the UMVIM office at or 916.374.1584.
Other donations at ACS
As in previous years, separate bins will be provided at the Convention Center for donations of eye glasses and cell phones. Please be sure to drop your donations in the appropriate receptacle to eliminate the need for sorting afterward.
In addition, Sierra Service Project will collect food for SSP campers – powdered drink mix, peanut butter, and jelly – at its display table through Friday morning.
Watch the Instant Connection for more information about the eye glass and cell phone collection and the SSP food drive.
