California-Nevada United Methodist Foundation Reaches $50 Million Mark

November 19, 2013

As of October 31, the California-Nevada United Methodist Foundation reached the $50 million investment mark. The Foundation celebrated this milestone during its recent board meeting.

"All thanks for the achievement of this tremendous goal, begins with God…God entrusted this work to us and those who came before us," said the Rev. Thomas Kimball, Foundation Board Chair.  "The churches, individuals and organizations of this Conference bear witness to this trust, by the faith they have in the staff and board members of the Foundation…Thanks be to God!"

The mission of the Foundation is to grow the stewardship of the California-Nevada Annual Conference by providing socially responsible financial management and helping develop sustainable funds for those served.

Susan Peters, the Foundation's Executive Director, said, "As we prepare to enter our 50th year of service to the churches, agencies and individual donors in our Annual Conference, the Foundation Board and staff are grateful for the trust placed in us." She added, "We value the relationships we have developed over the years with those we serve, and look forward to continuing this work with you!”
The Foundation works with individuals, local congregations, and conference agencies by:

  • actively promoting planned giving and providing resources and services,
  • managing endowment and other funds benefiting local churches and church agencies,
  • serving as trustee for trusts, including charitable remainder trusts and other planned gifts in which the ultimate beneficiaries are United Methodist churches, the annual conference, other United Methodist agencies and related causes, and
  • providing guidance and direction for successful capital campaigns.
The board of directors is composed of both clergy and laity form across the annual conference. For more information about the Foundation, click here.
