You're invited to join Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr. this Saturday, April 24, for the fifth of six "Rethink Conference" events at Visalia United Methodist Church 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The bishop will cast a vision for the California-Nevada Conference and outline some key pieces of legislation which will be before Annual Conference Session in June. They are:
· A recommendation to suspend the conference rules governing program, organization, and administrative practices, being brought by the Conference Council on Ministries;
· A recommendation for realignment and consolidation of districts, being brought by the Cabinet;
· A recommendation for direct billing of pastor pension costs, being brought by the Clergy Benefits Task Force;
· A recommendation for adjustments to the plan and structure for minimum salary, being brought by the Commission on Equitable Salaries.
The bishop's message is one of purposeful aspiration as he extends a call to United Methodists to "step boldly into the future that God offers" by recommitting to Wesleyan Christian principles.
A video of his presentation will be available on line next week.
The series wraps up next week, Saturday, May 1, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Sparks UMC in Nevada.
Visalia UMC is located at 5200 W. Caldwell Avenue, Visalia, CA 93277.
