About two months ago, George and Louise Carter of Nevada City United Methodist Church talked to me about their idea and felt need for a group/class which would explore end of life matters, such as wills, trusts, advanced health care directives, ethical wills, and downsizing – in a manner conducive to mutual support in actually getting these tasks done.
A few of us met March 19 to brainstorm what such a class/group would look like. Here is what we came up with:
It will be for anyone interested in exploring end of life matters, such as:
1. review of wills, trusts, and advanced health care directives
2. ethical wills
4. handling of family photos and heirlooms
5. memorial service plans
– again, in a manner conducive to mutual support in actually getting these tasks done.
Each participant will have a buddy to hold him or her accountable on the individuals' respective goals (to be developed in Session 1).
The proposed support group/class is intended to be an ongoing series for 4-6 sessions, meeting no more than twice a month for two hours at each time.
Our task force has set Sunday, April 18, 2-4 p.m., for our first session. The location has been changed to Nevada City UMC, 433 Broad Street, Nevada City, CA 95959 instead of Grass Valley UMC.
Please respond to me at email@example.com or 650.823.0559 (cell) as soon as possible, if you are interested in being a part of this group. The number of participants will be limited.
"Heartsongs, by Mattie Stepanek
Thank you, God
Not just for life
But for your journey through life.
Life is a miracle
And a journey through life
Is so full of so many more miracles
If we travel with our heartsongs."
