United Theological Seminary (UTS) in Dayton, Ohio will begin offering United Methodist Church Professional Certification courses in January. Four courses will be taught in a hybrid, retreat setting, January 11-16.
The UMC Certification Program for church professionals is a program of the General Board of Higher Education Ministries (GBHEM) of The United Methodist Church. To enroll as a certification student, go to the GBHEM website and follow instructions. Enrolled certification students are provided scholarships through GBHEM and UTS, and are eligible to register for classes at United as "Certification" students.
Non-certification students are welcome in these classes as well, either for Master's credit or as "Visiting" students.
Classes will be taught three times a year - in January, June, and August. In January 2010, the following courses are scheduled:
· Bible Survey
· Theology for Practical Ministry
· Aging from a Theological Perspective
· Spiritual Disciplines and Prayer
