Pittsburg United Methodist Church is commemorating its 80th anniversary this month with a two-day celebration to which you are invited.
Both Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 will be "filled with jubilant praise and worship, and joyful fellowship among followers of our Lord Jesus the Christ," according to the church's press release.
Beginning with a parade into the church, complete with multicultural attire and songs of praise, at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, the celebration will continue with artistic expressions from various traditions, followed by a multicultural feast.
The Rev. Renae Extrum-Fernandez, Bay View District Superintendent, will be guest preacher at the celebratory worship service on Sunday (at 10:30 a.m.). A multicultural meal will follow the service.
Just a few of the artistic expressions for the weekend: Fijian, Filipino, and Tongan choirs; Filipino and Fijian dancers; and Pan-African singers.
