United Methodist Women Organize Against Violence
October 16, 2009
STAMFORD, Conn. (UMNS)
In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, United Methodist Women are being encouraged to partner with a United Methodist Men's group or other male church members and hold awareness events on domestic violence in their local churches and communities.
Directors of the Women's Division, United Methodist Board of Global Ministries, also voted during their October 9-12 annual meeting to endorse the national declaration by religious and spiritual leaders to address violence against women. The United Methodist Council of Bishops signed the declaration in 2006.
