This Sunday Is World Communion Sunday

October 01, 2009

Remember that this Sunday, October 4, is a United Methodist Church Special Sunday - the day set aside as World Communion Sunday. (Churches, if you have not made plans to observe World Communion Sunday this week, please designate another day for this special offering.)

Your generous gifts go to the World Communion Scholarships Fund, Ethnic Scholarship Program, and Ethnic In-Service Training Program.

Half of the offering provides scholarships for international and U.S. racial- and ethnic-minority graduate students. Thirty-five percent of the receipts supports ethnic scholarships for undergraduate students, and 15 percent funds Ethnic In-Service Training Program scholarships for racial- and ethnic-minority persons seeking second careers in church-related vocations.

$1,028,865 was given to the World Communion Sunday offering last year.
