We Are in a 'Season of Change,' Writes Bishop Brown in New Article

September 11, 2009

Where the church is concerned, fall is a time of great activity and even of rebirth, according to the September article by Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr.

In "A Season of Change: Working Into a New Way of Being," the Resident Bishop of the California-Nevada Annual Conference writes that this year it also is a time for looking at how we can live together in a new way in this Conference.
"We have many things going for us … [but also] major work to do in order to face our challenges and embrace our opportunities," he writes.
The Bishop adds that we must think our way into a new way of being, and points to the clergy circuits as an example.
The circuits are not a "new structure," he continues, but a part of a process, "by which we will invite as many as we can into collaboration, to figure it out together, so that together we shape our preferred future."
He also promises collaboration with the Board of Laity to "empower the laity to play their important role in leading ministry."
"A Season of Change: Working Into a New Way of Being" is highlighted on the Home Page of the California-Nevada Annual Conference website at cnumc.org.
