Performance of Gospel of John Launches 150th Anniversary Celebration at Trinity UMC in Anderson

August 21, 2009

Trinity United Methodist Church in Anderson, California will host Into the Light Productions for a special performance of the Gospel of John, Friday, September 18 at 7 p.m., in celebration of the church's 150th anniversary.

Into the Light Productions has been bringing Scripture to life for faith communities for 20 years. In keeping with the oral tradition of proclamation, Michael Reardon has memorized the Gospels and the Book of Revelation and performs them prayerfully and powerfully - word for word, in their entirety - while Patrick Lane adds his original live music, dramatic lighting, and staging effects.

The duo has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, and Asia in churches of many denominations as well as other venues.

(Into the Light Productions also offers other programs, workshops, and retreats to highlight the Scripture texts, including an Advent program called The Christmas Narratives. Visit or call 650.992.3975 for more information.)

The production is one aspect of a busy weekend being dubbed "150 Years of Caring." An "old time fair" on Saturday, September 19 will feature country Gospel singer Ricky Russ from Abilene, Texas, along with games for young and old, a Circuit Rider on horseback, barbecue, and more. Special music and history highlights will enhance worship on Sunday, and a luncheon will follow the service.

In advance of the celebration the church is soliciting memories, stories, and photos from anyone having had a connection to Trinity at some point through the years. Send to or by USPS to Trinity UMC, 1821 Ferry St., Anderson, CA 96007.
