Dignitaries Attend Pancake Breakfast at St. Paul's UMC in Vacaville

June 24, 2009

For 42 years, St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Vacaville has been the official Pancake Breakfast site for Vacaville's annual Fiesta Days. The event is a major fundraiser for the church.

At the most recent Pancake Breakfast, May 23, the church was favored by the attendance of the Honorable John Garamendi, California's Lieutenant Governor, and the Honorable Mariko Yamada, Assembly member, 8th District. Both spent more than an hour talking with St. Paul's pastor, the Rev. Sandy Gess, and church members about the church's programs to feed the needy and reach out to the poor.

The dignitaries also took a leisurely tour of the church and grounds, asked about the development of the Community Garden and the church's work as a Reconciling Congregation, and took time to greet the myriad volunteers and attendees.

"It was a great honor to host them," said Gess.
