Applicants Sought for Suk-Chong Yu Religious Studies Scholarship

The Suk-Chong Yu Religious Studies Scholarship is open for applications until July 1, 2009.

The scholarship was created to honor the leadership of the Rev. Suk-Chong Yu, who served as Nevada-Sierra District Superintendent from 1999 until his retirement in June, 2006. It was established with funds contributed in his honor.


The amount of the scholarship to be awarded will be $500, which may be applied in any of the following categories:


1. Limited scope, such as sabbatical or one-time instruction for training leaders - i.e. Stephen Ministry

2. Seminary students - undergraduate or graduate studies

3. Religious music studies

4. Age-related ministry studies: children, youth, adults, seniors

5. Training in mission of Social Justice


Applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school or have an equivalent degree.


If applying for college, applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, out of a 4.0 - and for graduate school must have a GPA of 3.0 or above in undergraduate work. Verification of enrollment in an accredited college, vocational school, or training event is required before the scholarship will be paid.


Applicants must provide a copy of school transcript and submit it, along with three letters of recommendation and Scholarship Application, Parts I, II, and III, to: Nevada-Sierra District Office, P.O. Box 2915, Reno, NV 89505, no later than July 1, 2009.
