Michigan College Hosts Academy Against Human Trafficking

April 03, 2009

ADRIAN, Mich. (UMNS) - United Methodist-related Adrian College will host a April 17-19 event on getting involved in the fight against human trafficking and slavery.

Called the "Abolitionist Academy," participants will have access to education, training and networking opportunities to lead the anti-human trafficking movement in their own communities. The Abolitionist Academy will focus on "Not For Sale Campaign" projects and newest developments in the movement to fight human trafficking nationwide.

The campaign is an international endeavor to fight the global slave trade. Inside the United States, it identifies trafficking rings and collaborates with local law enforcement and community groups to shut them down and provide support for victims.
