In Ministry With Children? Register for July Quadrennial Conference

The General Board of Discipleship's Quadrennial Children's Ministry Event, Focus 2009, is less than five months away - and workshop information now has been posted to the GBOD website at


The conference takes place July 21-24, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Its theme is "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made," from Psalm 139.


There will be a one-day Pre-Conference Seminar on July 20.


Speakers and preachers include the Rev. Dr. Leanne Ciampa Hadley, an Ordained Elder in The United Methodist Church and a specialist in the area of children's spirituality; Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems, a Bible scholar and ordained elder in the African Methodist Church, celebrated by Ebony magazine as one of America's top 15 preachers; and the Rev. Dr. James H. Richie, Jr., a clergy member of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference of The U.M.C., who developed the Created by God sexuality education resources for preteens and their parents, available through Abingdon Press.


The Pre-Conference Seminar will focus on the church's role in the formation of our youngest children, led by renowned child psychologist and author Dr. David Elkind.
