Ecumenical Media Resource Center Newsletter For February 2009
Check out our new website: www.gbgm-umc.org/emrc
We wish to thank KIM ROGERS for her many hours of work on the new website design. We hope you will find it much more user friendly and a connection to more resources and information. One of Kim's goals is to create a link to each of our member church websites. You can help her by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org to provide your church website link and the name of your web master. Just think: all of your church members could have direct access to our site and our catalog, as well as other happenings in the area of Christian Education, right from your homepage! We also would like to give a big "thank you" to PAT MAGEE for designing and maintaining the previous website, which served us for many years. Pat and Kim continue to maintain the new updated website.
Have you used the "fishing license" for BluefishTV.com resources, yet? Bluefish has hundreds of downloadable illustrations, covering 80 different topics usable for youth and adult small groups as well as for use during worship services. The Media Resource Center has purchased a "fishing license" which gives each of your leaders access to 25 free video downloads. To get to the material, you need to phone us at 408-378-2532, or email us at email@example.com. We will give you a code which you are to use at the checkout screen, instead of paying.
Information about the Quadrennial UMC conference for Children's Ministries, called FOCUS 2009 and happening July 21-24 in Indianapolis, IN can be found at www.gbod.org/focus2009. Check with your district and Conference regarding help that might be available for registration.
The annual Western Christian Educators Conference dates are set for October 11-14. Mark your calendar! This year's keynote speaker is the Rev. Eric H. F. Law and the theme is "Learning as Liturgy, Liturgy as Learning." You'll find a flyer and more info at www.lessonsfromtheshepherd.com/wcec.htm. It all happens at the beautiful Zephyr Point Conference Center on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Hope to see you there!

I am looking forward each day to The Daily Voice, written by a friend, Tim Gossett. He has started a website, www.DifferentVoice.com, for progressive-thinking Christians. On Monday he talked about The Teaching Company, Nooma, and Living the Questions - and the Media Resource Center receives media from all three companies. Some are gifts and others we purchase. You should be able to find what we have by these companies by using your find button under EDIT when you are looking at our catalog in the Youth/Adult folder (500s) or the Adult series folder (800s).
VBS kits are arriving. We have samples of DISCOVERY CANYON, Explore the Wonders of the Word! - published by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and Camp E.D.G.E., and put out by Cokesbury. You may view them here at the EMRC or check them out for a weekend.
