A Day to Learn All About Intentional Interim Ministry

February 19, 2009

The Cabinet of the California-Nevada Annual Conference will host a workshop devoted to learning "all about" Intentional Interim Ministry - or at least as much as a one-day, introductory workshop can offer - on Monday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the United Methodist Center in West Sacramento, California.

The Conference Center is located at 1276 Halyard Drive, West Sacramento, CA 95691.

Workshop leaders will be the Rev. Dr. Jan Hill, author and Coordinator for Intentional Interim Ministry Training at the Intentional Growth Center at Lake Junaluska, and Dr. Kenneth Lambert, former coordinator at the center and now a trainer there.

They will invoke a process that guides a congregation to explore its history, decision making, denominational relationships, and core identity before launching a search for a new pastor.

The workshop will seek to broaden the definition of interim ministry, and focus on exploring: settings in which a Transition/Interim Ministry Specialist (TIMS) might serve, how to select and train a TIMS, and training opportunities that are available.

District Superintendents, active and retired pastors of all stripes, congregational leaders, Board of Ordained Ministry representatives, Conference staff, and trained interim ministers all are encouraged to attend.

Registration deadline is April 15.

$15 per person fee covers workshop materials and lunch.
