Volunteers Needed for National Gathering This Month

January 15, 2009

The National Gathering of the United Methodist Camping and Retreat Ministry Programs is happening January 26-30 in Santa Cruz, California. As the California-Nevada Annual Conference is the "host" Conference, the planning team has asked us for volunteers. Please contact Kelly Newell at kellyn@calnevumc.org or 916-374-1515 if you can help with any of the following:

·         Volunteers are needed to put together Conference binders at Mt. Hermon Conference Center, Sunday night from 4 to 6 p.m. (4-6 people needed)

·         Meet and greet people at the San Jose airport: just be the friendly face and direct them to the transportation vans. Six people needed for each shift:
Monday, January 26, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; 12:30-3:30 p.m.

·         People needed to help with registration and set up for worship at the site (Mt. Hermon), Monday, January 26, Noon until ???

·         The planners are also looking for individuals who would be interested in spending an hour, sometime during Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday to share a book, a song, or a craft with the kids in children's camp (ages 5-8)

Only about five people from the Conference Camping Board and Programs are able to attend. "We would love it," says Conference Youth and Camping Director Kelly Newell, "if you could help and share our 'radical hospitality' out here in the West!"
