Marcia McFee and Mark Miller Offer One-Day Workshop On Worship

December 19, 2008

“The Art & Technique of Sensory-Rich Worship”

An opportunity to learn from General Conference 2008 Directors of Worship and Music is coming to the California-Nevada Conference area on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Marcia McFee and Mark Miller will offer a one-day workshop to area clergy and worship staff and teams as part of their four-day retreat at Zephyr Point Conference Center on Lake Tahoe.

Marcia McFee, a nationally-known worship consultant who lives in Truckee and has been offering worship retreats in the Tahoe area since 2007 says, “Worship teams from across the country are coming for a four-day retreat at Zephyr Point. Because I know not everyone can free up their schedules for that long of a continuing education experience, I wanted to make a one-day option available to churches in this area because Mark doesn’t get to the Western Jurisdiction often. What he has to offer in choral and congregational music as well as his joyful leadership of worship is so valuable that I want as many people as possible to have access to it.”

The one-day workshop will offer the theology, theory and practice behind what they call “Sensory-Rich Worship.” When the words, music, visuals and action all work together to offer the life-giving Gospel message, worship is what McFee calls “M-M-Good”–meaningful and memorable. This idea was the underlying principle for the worship at General Conference, which received rave reviews for its ability to enable the worship of all the people and cross “stylistic” as well as theological boundaries. McFee and Miller will use clips of that worship in their teaching as well as experiential, interactive and skills-building activities at the workshop.

The one-day workshop is $75 for 1 person, $100 for 2 persons from the same church with $15 for each additional person. This registration fee includes lunch on Tuesday. An “Easy-Does-It” and “Mini-Retreat” option with one or two-night room stays and additional meals at the Conference Center are available for an additional fee (these options must be reserved by January 1 in order to reserve rooms).

To register for the one-day retreat, send an e-mail to or call toll free (877) 387-7977.
A few spots are left for the entire retreat, which runs January 13-16, 2009. For more information on signing up for this, visit
