Spots Still Available for Youth Service Trips to Los Angeles and Mexico

December 11, 2008

The staff of Sierra Service Project is eagerly looking forward to its mission projects for next summer. While most of the reservation sites are full, there is still space for your group to serve in South Los Angeles or Tijuana, Mexico.

Participants of the South Los Angeles service experience will live in the Vermont Square United Methodist Church and serve the surrounding community. Youth will have the opportunity to serve a local family through home repairs and home weatherization. Other activities include neighborhood beautification; a visit to a local community organization serving the homeless, children or women; handing out lunches on Skid Row; and a barbeque on the beach!
The Tijuana, Mexico program was successfully piloted last summer. With feedback from the youth, adult participants, and staff, the 2009 project will be an amazing service and spirit-filled week for your group. Volunteers will learn about the human dimensions surrounding the US-Mexico border while repairing the homes of the poor.
These service projects are open to senior high youth groups. Please visit the Sierra Service Project website for more information and current availability. New groups will receive a 10% discount!
