St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Vacaville, California will host a "Town Hall" meeting on Monday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m.
The event is for activists and interested folk to discuss the ramifications of the passage of "Proposition 8": what its passage means for couples who have already married, how LGBT folk can organize in our communities, how alliances can be formed with churches, and what is happening in the courts. There will be a presentation by attorneys.
The church's pastor, the Rev. Sandy Gess, coordinated the event with Jeff Janis-Kitzmiller and Teresa Rowe, of Marriage Equality, and with leaders of SolanoPride. Members of local welcoming/reconciling churches and church leaders have been invited. Says Kristen Loomis, a member of St. Paul's UMC, "It's time for LGBT-affirming congregations to get together and organize a united spiritual response."
St. Paul's UMC is centrally located near downtown Vacaville, at 101 West Street, Vacaville, CA 95688. For more information contact Pastor Sandy Gess at firstname.lastname@example.org.
