Bread for the World Gives Thanks, Asks Remembrance for the Hungry

November 26, 2008

Bread for the World, "a Christian voice for ending hunger," is extending its best wishes as you approach your Thanksgiving celebrations, and thanks you for your efforts toward ending hunger in God's world.

And as we celebrate the bounty of God's creation this Thanksgiving, the organization's president, David Beckmann, reminds that, "Our faith also calls us to recognize that many of our fellow Americans are struggling with job losses and home foreclosures, while in countries such as Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Haiti, rising food prices make life a daily challenge."
In this time of great need, Beckmann urges you to join in affirming that:
·         Now more than ever, we need to rely on God's grace and strength
·         The mission of ending hunger is more critical than ever
·         We must seize the opportunities before us, redoubling our efforts against hunger and poverty

His Thanksgiving prayer is that you may experience a fresh sense of God's mercy and abundance as you have chosen to create hope and opportunity for hungry people.
