Christmastime Festivities

November 25, 2008

The season of Advent, one of joyous expectation, begins Sunday, November 30. In keeping with that spirit, many United Methodist churches in the California-Nevada Annual Conference will be looking toward Christmas with various events designed to extend hospitality to all.

At San Francisco's Pine UMC, a casual tree trimming party will follow the December 7 worship service, at 12:30 p.m. Ornaments will be provided; tinsel donations gladly accepted. On Saturday, December 13, a Christmas Joy Party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will feature snacks, games, cookie decorating, face painting, crafts for kids, and Christmas carols for all—along with a visit from Santa—and it's all free! The church's Christmas Worship Service will be Sunday, December 21 at 11 a.m. and its Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be December 24 at 7 p.m. For more information about these or any Pine UMC events, contact the church office at 415-387-1800 or The church is located at 426 33rd Ave., San Francisco, CA 94121.
At Concord UMC in Concord, California the church's Community Orchestra and Chancel Choir will present the "Candlelight Christmas Cantata" by Benjamin Harkin as a worship service on December 21 at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend this exciting worship celebration with full orchestra and 40-voice choir, under the direction of Douglas Emigh. It will truly inspire your heart and soul. Concord UMC is located at 1645 West Street, Concord, CA 94521. For more information call the church at 925-685-5260 or visit
